February is Pet Dental Awareness Month

"PETS NEED DENTAL CARE TOO" is our February campaign to educate pet owners about the importance and benefits of dental care. The American Veterinary Medical Association estimates that more than 80 percent of dogs & 70 percent of cats have periodontal disease by the time they are 3 years of age.

Just as humans need regular dental checkups and cleanings, so do our pets! Tartar and plaque that accumulate on teeth can cause inflammation of the gums. If left untreated, periodontal (gum) diseasecan cause not only that bad breath we know so well, but also significant pain and infections of the kidneys, heart valves, lungs and joints. As always, prevention is the best method to keep costs down and your pet healthy.

During the month of February, Woodland Hospital for Animals is offering a $25 discount on pet dental procedures. We are also offering a free dental evaluation which will help more accurately assess the cost of the dental procedure.

Along with the dental exams and scaling & polishing procedures, we also have the added benefits of dental x-rays to better evaluate the problems that we can't see on a routine dental exam. Dental x-rays are recommended to be done during most dental procedures to determine if there are any underlying problems.

Please call us at 942-6780 to schedule your dental check up with one of our nurses. We look forward to seeing you soon!
